Another Half Of Me - Chapter 16

Roshni came out of the airport and started to look for Siddha or Rudy, but saw neither of them anywhere. She had hoped that Siddha will come to pick her up. Not seeing him disappointed her. Sighing, she booked a taxi for her house.

Even though, it was she who had challenged him to find her, however now all Roshni wanted was Siddhaā€™s arms all around her. All these days without him had felt like years of separation. Her body craved his touch. Clenching the pelvic muscles hard, she craved for him to be inside her. Her eyes were dying to see his loving and smiling face. Most of all, she wanted to see herself in his eyes again.

God, Siddha, why didnā€™t you come to pick me up?

Roshni was startled when the driver said that they had reached Dilshad Garden. Paying the driver, she picked up her luggage and started towards her door. Her flat was the only one in this plot. One of the biggest reasons for her to choose this flat was its solitary nature. Looking around, she saw no one. Sighing hard, she rummaged her bag for the house keys. Not able to see properly in the dark, she tried her best to get the door unlocked but failed.

Siddha watched her from a fair distance. He had followed her all the way from the airport trying to make sure she reached home safely. Not that he needed to worry. He had his trusted men placed in strategic locations all around the house: from the press wallah, the gardener of the park in front of her house to the man living right opposite to her lane. He wanted her to be secure and safe.

Now, standing meters away from her, Siddha saw her struggle with the keys. Thumping his hand on the glass pane of the car, he summoned Rudy. Crossing the road in a flash, Siddha reached the stairs of her house within seconds.

ā€œCan I help you maā€™am?ā€ he asked, trying to sound all business like.

Startled, Roshni turned and jumped with joy.

Siddha!

Trying not to control herself, she dropped everything and hugged him hard.

Siddha laughed hard seeing her reaction. It felt so good to finally feel her in his arms.

ā€œYou found me,ā€ Roshni said overjoyed with the thought that Siddha was here.

Smiling, Siddha picked up her keys and unlocked the door.

Roshni entered and tried to switch on the lights. But, somehow, nothing happened. Suddenly, she remembered not paying the electricity bill to the landlord. He must have cut her connection when she was not around. Cursing him, she asked Siddha and Rudy to wait outside.

ā€œThere is no electricity. Power fault, I believe,ā€ she lied. ā€œIā€™ll get some candles,ā€ she said hurrying inside.

Siddha realised something was wrong, but he could not judge what it was right now. Seeing Roshni after such a long time had taken his thinking for a ride.

Roshni placed candles all around the house, trying her best to light up the place. Turning towards Siddha, she said in a small voice, ā€œThis is my house. Nothing compared to your Rajput Mansion.ā€

Looking around, Siddha observed his surroundings. A small drawing cum dining room with a television, a couch and some chairs on one side, and a small 2 setter dining table on the other. Opposite to the dining table was the small L-shaped kitchen and next to it her bedroom.

Roshni looked at him biting her lip. Shit, he hated the place. But, she couldnā€™t afford anything more than this. Being a dance teacher in one of the local schools only helped her to bring food to her plate. Everything that was left after that was consumed by the rent.

ā€œSorry, I know you donā€™t like my house,ā€ Roshni said sounding apologetic.

Siddha kept looking at her trying to figure out why she was apologising. For him the only thing that mattered was her. ā€œThis is my home,ā€ Siddha said with all the love and conviction in his heart.

Feeling chocked and overwhelmed, Roshni kept on looking at him till her vision clouded with tears.

Siddha walked up to her and wiped her tears with his lips. ā€œWherever you are is home for me,ā€ he said looking straight into her eyes.

Roshni saw herself in his eyes and she was convinced that Siddha meant what he said.

Rudy looked on from the doorway and smiled. Finally someone was there who filled his Bhaijiā€™s heart with joy and love. God, please donā€™t let anything separate them. Please, he prayed. As he prayed he promised himself that nothing would separate Bhaiji and Roshni Maā€™am. He would do everything in his power to stop anything or anyone who would try to separate them.
