Another Half Of Me - Chapter 4

Ashish, Tania’s brother was a little confused with what she was telling him. He took a deep breath as she stopped speaking. All he managed to understand from her ranting is she had found some evidence against Siddha that can get him behind bars.

“Why have you told me all this? Where do I come in this whole execution?” he asked with bewilderment.

“I want to take this up with your police friend, Siraj. He can re-open the case. Once, that is done, with all this evidence we can easily convict bhaiya, I mean Siddha” she said with conviction.

Looking at Tania, he asked the first logical thing that came to his mind. “Does Sid know all this?”

Shaking her head, she turned and stopped short. Sid was standing in the doorway. Turning away, she picked up the papers and started to leave.

“Wait!” Sid commanded.

Walking up to her, he took the papers from her and flicked through them. His eyes widened with confusion and anger.

Panting heavily, he looked at Tania. “Do you know what this is?”

“Yes, this is a murder committed by your brother” Tania replied with disgust.

“You know nothing.” Sid replied with anger.

“My brother cannot even think about killing Roshni Thakur.”

“But, he did, Sid. I have all the evidence and I intend to take all this to the police. The court will do justice unless you guys haven’t already bought them” Tania retorted, smiling sarcastically.

Turning towards her, Sid tried searching for the girl whom he loved, who respected his brother like her own. But, instead he only found a righteous girl all set to destroy everything.

Shaking his head, he smiled and asked, “ Yes, you are right. Siddha Singh Rajput definitely has the guts and power to kill people. But, tell me something, how can he kill his own soul?”

She felt somebody pulling her from the car seat but her leg was stuck under the front seat. She wanted to say it but words failed her. The numbing pain in her lower abdomen was too much to bear. Somehow, they managed to get her out. As they laid her on the stretcher, she felt someone say, “I don’t think she is alive.” She felt like screaming, “I cannot die. I have to live. To kill him with my own hands.” Instead she only managed to move her already burned fingers a little.
They picked her up and placed her inside the ambulance. Someone was saying something about her. Straining hard, she heard “The baby is dead for sure. Let’s see if she lives,” the guy said.
Her head felt back on the pillow and as the truth registered in her mind, her body boiled with suppressed anger. Silent cries racked her body as they tried hard to control her. She tried hard to pull away from their restricting hands. As the struggle increased so did the pain and anger. She tried to get up from the stretcher, but felt burned flesh sticking to the cloth. Pulling hard, she let out an inaudible scream as the flesh tore off from her body. Somebody pushed something inside her and her body became immobile, but her heart and mind still struggled to get free.

The light in the room pierced her eyes but the racking cries did not go away. Tania tried hard to control her hands as her head banged again and again against the pillow. “The injection, Dr Bhaskar, fast please,” she shouted.
The tranquiliser took its toll and she fell asleep. Still the tears flowed silently testifying her uncontrollable pain and anger.
