Another Half Of Me - Chapter 18
“I knew it,”
Sid said slapping his knee. Putting down the glass, he hugged his brother
tight . Next, he looked at Roshni and smiled.
Roshni did
not know how to react. She was definitely not prepared for this. She looked at
Sid and tried to smile but only managed a weak one.
At first
Roshni felt embarrassed as everyone was looking at her with surprise, but when
she heard Siddha, she buried her head more inside his chest straining hard to
hear his heart beats. His heart was beating like he had run miles after miles. Her
answer was ready.
“I can’t
possibly imagine my life without you anymore. When do you want us to get
married?” she asked looking straight in his eyes.
Siddha
stared at her not believing his ears. She had said yes. For the first time in
his life, he had an overwhelming urge to cry. Not with sadness but with joy.
Avoiding
her eyes for the first time since they had met, he let go of her and stepped
back.
The moment
he stepped back, Sid, Amit, Karan and Sudha, Amit’s wife surrounded her,
congratulating and hugging Roshni. Only Prashant kept on looking at him
realising Siddha was close to tears. He followed Siddha as he went out towards the
balcony.
Clutching the
railing, Siddha closed his eyes and one tear escaped. He had never thought
Roshni would say yes. Now, when she had, he couldn’t believe it.
Prashant
placed a hand on shoulders and squeezed. Looking away, Siddha wiped his tears
and smiled at him.
“Don’t hide
them from her. Marry her as soon as possible before the world starts coming in
between,” Prashant said smiling and pulling Siddha in a bear hug.
*************
They had
returned from Amit’s place more than 1 hour ago. He waited for Roshni to finish
her bath while he checked some important mails on his laptop. Sighing he was
about to close his mail box when one mail caught his eye.
Sandhya!
She was
coming back from London next week. His forehead bunched with effort as he
started to analyse the situation.
Determination
lit up his eyes as he thought of a perfect plan.
It was time
for Roshni to meet his family.
