Another Half Of Me - Chapter 9

Siddha woke to a glorious feeling of fulfilment in the morning. Sliding his hand sideways, he wanted to feel her soft skin against his. But, he only managed to touch the crumbled bed sheet. Wide awake, he got up with a start.

Where is she? Is she gone?
No, she can’t. He cannot let her go.

Adjusting his eyes to the light in the room, he started looking for her. But she was nowhere to be seen. Even her clothes were gone along with her other belongings.

A sudden heaviness settled all around his heart. With urgency, he looked for his phone and was about to dial Rudy’s number, when he heard a noise from the balcony.

Hurrying, he opened the balcony door and found her standing there, looking up to the sky.

“Good morning,” Siddha greeted, trying not to sound too desperate.

Roshni turned and smiled at him. He looked flushed with hair all ruffled up. She remembered how wonderful it had felt when she had clutched it with urgency at night. Slowly her gaze moved lower and she remembered what it had felt when Siddha had entered her. Closing her eyes, she sighed, trying to block the images flashing through her mind.

The night is over, Roshni. You asked for one night and you got it. Now, just leave.

She walked up to him and touched his cheek. “Good morning.”

Siddha felt strange as she walked inside the room. “I should be leaving now,” she said with a smile on her face. “Thank you for yesterday night.”

Siddha’s features suddenly hardened as he realised it was just a casual one-night stand for her. And here he was dreaming of their future together. How stupid!

“I’ll call Rudy. He will drop you wherever you have to go,” he said in a brisk tone.

“It’s okay. I’ll catch a taxi from the hotel entrance.”

“I brought you here and I will have you dropped,” Siddha replied with impatience in his voice.

Shaking her head, Roshni strode up to him and took the phone away.

“You don’t need to. You have done enough. A person like you making love to me was enough to last a lifetime. Don’t think I’ll not remember you. I will always remember each and everything that happened between us yesterday. The memories are going to be enough for me,” she said, gulping hard to control her tears.

Siddha listened to her monologue trying hard to understand what she meant. When it finally dawned on him, he lifted her face to his and said, “I’ll drop you wherever you have go, so that I can find you again.”

Her eyes widened and a single tear escaped their confines. Wiping it off with his lips, he whispered in her ear, “But, I would rather have you stay here with me.”

“Why?” Roshni’s asked with a croaking voice, biting her lower lip hard to control herself.

Looking into her eyes, Siddha replied unashamedly, “So, that I can lock you in my arms day and night to make love to you. And, I’ll kiss you every time you bite your lip.”

The look in his eyes shed all her doubts. He wanted her: not for now, not for eternity, but for as long as it is possible.

For once Roshni did not want to think about the future.

Wrapping her arms around his neck, she kissed him.

Smiling and kissing her back, Siddha hugged her tight and whispered, “Let’s shower.”
