Another Half Of Me - Chapter 12

Siddha looked at her sleeping peacefully in his arms. Tenderly, he touched her hair and drove his fingers through them. Closing his eyes, he pressed his nose near her ears. Her scent surrounded his senses instantly. She had become an addiction for him. Loving the feeling of her naked body close to his, he tried to block his thoughts. But, his gaze constantly fell on his right ring finger.

His engagement ring kept on reminding him of his commitment elsewhere.

Without waking her up, he placed a small kiss on her forehead and moved away from her. Only 24 hours were left and he still did not have the courage to tell Roshni the truth.

As he tried to get up from bed, he heard Roshni muttering his name in her sleep. Crossing to the other side of the bed, he looked at her face. She was smiling.

Dreaming about him!

His decision was made. Itā€™s time Roshni knew everything. He pulled the blanket over her body, and sat down with a paper and pen on the settee.

When he was finished, Siddha kept the letter underneath her phone on the bed and left.

Roshni woke up with a start as suddenly she felt Siddha not being by her side. She blinked and looked at the bedside clock. Itā€™s 6 in the morning. Where is he? As she tried getting up, her hand touched the letter Siddha had kept on the bed.

A dreaded and desolate feeling started to settle on her heart as she opened the letter.

ā€œI seriously donā€™t know how to start this.

I have always known loneliness to be a part of my life since my parents passed away. Even though I have a huge family and lot of friends, but still somewhere, there was always been an emptiness inside me.

Roshni, that day when I met you I felt that emptiness slowly ebbing away. Your scent, your body, your touches and most of all your eyes have filled my being with peace.

I have been engaged to Sandhya for the past 5 years, but still have not got married. If you ask me the reason, I can tell you many. But, now only one reason matters the most. And that reason is you.

I love you. Why, I donā€™t know. But, I just do.

Everything that is mine is yours. Me, my body, my life, my future, my family, my tears, my happiness, my soul everything is you.

Your breath is my heart beat.

Your smile is my solace.

Your lap is my pillow: your arms, my bed.

I will do everything in my power to make you happy.

I love you.

In your presence, I see the presence of God.ā€

Roshniā€™s tears fell freely on the letter. Trying not to wipe them off, she held the letter against her face and sobbed hard. An overwhelming feeling of love was sweeping her heart and she did not have the power to stop it.

Siddha looked at her from the doorway. As her tears fell, his first instinct was to wipe them off. But, he waited. Somehow, her tears echoed the love in his heart for her.

Gulping down the sobs, Roshni looked up and saw Siddha standing near the door. Without thinking any further, she beckoned him to her.

Wiping her tears with the heel of hand, Siddha looked into her eyes, trying to gauge what she was thinking. Somehow, words failed him. He waited patiently for her to speak first.

ā€œI am an orphan,ā€ Roshni said shaking her head supressing her tears.

Siddhaā€™s eyes widened with surprise. He looked at her and felt her pain of not knowing her parents at all. Somehow, it echoed the pain he had felt all those years ago when his parents had died in the car accident.

ā€œI donā€™t have anyone. No family, no relatives, no one. I am used to being alone. Donā€™t drag me into your life. I wonā€™t be able to bear it,ā€ Roshni said trying to sound as rational as possible. But Siddha could still feel her fear of losing him in her words.

His heart jumped with joy as he realised she loved him.

Dragging her into his arms, he asked, ā€œDo you love me?ā€

Roshni looked up at him and said in an irritated one, ā€œDo I need to say it? Donā€™t you understand?ā€

Supressing a smile, Siddha shook his head. Roshni grabbed a pillow and smack came blow against his temple. Laughing, Siddha fell on the bed and tried his best to dodge her blows.

Somehow he managed to grab her arms, but she tried her best to fight him off. Laughing hard, he pinned her arms on the bed and lay on top of her.

Looking in her eyes, he saw what he had been searching since the time they had met. His vision and features softened as Roshni said, ā€œI love you. I see me in your eyes and I donā€™t want to be anywhere else.ā€

Letting go of her hands, he buried his face in the curve of her throat. ā€œDonā€™t leave me ever,ā€ Siddha requested with all the love in his heart.

ā€œNever,ā€ Roshni replied hugging him to herself.
