Another Half Of Me - Chapter 42

Looking at Siddha’s disappearing back, Sid knew there was no way anyone could stop his brother now. Quickly he dialled his father’s number and beckoned them to come.

Siddha entered her room and sat down next to her bed. Looking at her face, he noticed a burned scar at her forehead. The more he looked the more scars he found. One near her chin, a big one on her neck and a long burned one on her right hand.

Softly he touched her hair, which he noticed had been shortened completely. Now, it only covered her head. Closing his eyes, he remembered playing with her long mane while making love to her.

His tears fell on her hand as he lowered his head asking for her forgiveness.

Roshni heart came alive suddenly as something wet heated her skin. A strange and tell-tale sensation rose in her body and her eyes opened with a jerk. It was him again, she knew it for sure.

Her eyes fell on his lowered head and she saw him clutching her hand while his tears fell slowly. Anger and pain rose in her as realisation finally hit her.

He is here. It is no more a dream.

She jerked her hand away and moved to the corner of the bed.

Siddha stood up and looked at her with sad eyes. Right now, all he wanted to do was to take her in his arms and soothe the pain of these last 5 years. But as he moved towards her, he found her moving away from him.

Boiling with pent-up anguish and anger, Roshni’s shrivelled form slowly came to the edge of the bed. She fell from the bed trying to avoid him and Siddha rushed to pick her up but she pushed him away so hard that he fell backwards.

Scrambling to her feet, Roshni looked at him and felt only one thing: anger. He was the reason her child was dead. She looked around her for something that she could use to hurt him as he had hurt her. Suddenly her gaze fell on the scissors lying on the table next to the side window.

Siddha saw her shrivel to the window and smiled when she picked up the scissors. He raised his hand and stopped everyone behind him.

“Nobody will come between us,” he commanded.

Hearing his commanding tone, Roshni turned around and screamed hard as she neared him with raised scissors.

The swash of the scissors echoed in the room along with her screams as she slashed Siddha’s chest mercilessly.

He stood there as the tip of the scissor ripped opened his skin time and again. Done and exhausted, Roshni slumped back at the wall panting hard and he staggered towards her. Siddha raised her trembling hand holding the scissor and pointed the tip at his chest.

“This is where my heart lies with you in it. Pierce it hard, Roshni, so that it bleeds to the last drop but don't take away your love because I can't even die without it."

The oozing blood from Siddha’s chest along with his pain filled voice somehow awakened Roshni’s long lost consciousness. Still she avoided his eyes for she knew if she looked at them then, she will lose it completely.

“Look at me please,” Siddha implored.

When she did not, Siddha tipped her face to him and said, “Look in my eyes once before they close forever, please.”

Roshni raised her eyelids and looked into those eyes, which had once meant everything to her. Right now looking into them she found the same thing she had seen all those years ago: herself.

The scissors fell from her hand and she clutched his blood drenched shirt and shook him with all her might. She knew Siddha couldn't have done anything. He couldn't have betrayed her. But, 5 years of their life had been wasted. Their bodies along with their souls had been scarred. They had lost their child. As she felt his arms going around her, she broke down.

“Our baby, our baby, our baby,” she screamed hard as finally her tears fell away. Siddha clutched her in his arms as her body shook with the pain and loss of the last 5 years. Together they slid to the floor and he rocked her back and forth trying to take away the pain. Slowly, Siddha’s eyes blurred and his hands fell away from her.

Roshni’s unrestricted form fell and Tania caught hold of her.

Siddha fell backwards on the floor as he saw Rudy and Sid rush to him. Prashant clutched his arm to check his pulse but nothing mattered to Siddha more than the anguished look on Roshni’s face.

He knew his time was near but he needed to live not for himself but for Roshni. He clutched her hand in his and tried to pull himself up. Rudy helped him and Siddha palmed her face and looked into her eyes, and saw what he had been searching for the past 5 years.

She was back. His Roshni was back.

“I love you and always will no matter what,” he said with all the love in his heart.

As his eyes closed and he slumped against Prashant's chest, a plea escaped his lips.

"I want to live, for her. Please, don't let me die."
