Scarred Love - Chapter 50
“What do
you know?”
Ishani
looked at Rudra and smiled a little.
“Well, I
know all about your anger issues.”
“My anger
issues?” he asked, a sense of dread creeping inside him.
Does she
know about the nightmares?
“Yep! I
read it on the internet that you can’t control your anger,” she said as she
placed a plate of eggs in front of him.
“And?”
“And that
it sometimes lands you in problems with the media and other people in the
industry.”
“Oh!” he
sighed with relief.
“I thought
something else,” he muttered under his breath as he picked up the fork.
“Why?
Should I know something else?” she asked looking up at him.
“Nope!”
Silently he
ate his eggs while she finished her burger. Wiping her hands on the issue
paper, she leant against her chair and stared at him.
“What is
Genus?” she asked suddenly.
“It’s a
place I had bought some years ago for one of my hotels. But then I dropped the
project as the location was not that good.”
“’But why
is still under construction?”
“Well, I am
trying to get the construction done as soon as possible but the workers only
work at day there, so it’s kind of slow.”
“Why?”
“Coz the
place is haunted,” he replied putting the fork down and getting up from the
table picking up his coffee mug.
“WHAT!?”
Rudra just
nodded and went towards the drawing room. Just as he sat down, she came inside
the room and pulled at his arm.
“The place
is haunted?”
“Yes. A
long time ago there was a huge house there. The family of four who lived there
were murdered one night. The killers burnt the house down along with the family.”
Suddenly
Ishani shivered as his words zipped through her mind. A small yet blurred image
of the past just flickered in her mind’s eye and then vanished.
Rudra
watched her intently as at first her eyes clouded and then her face became
rigid. But as suddenly as it had come, the expression was gone.
She
staggered to the sofa and collapsed on it. Clutching her head, she tried hard
to blank out the screeching voices in her mind.
“ISHI!”
The cold
shivers started again and she slowly started to burn up. She clutched sofa hard
trying to control the turmoil but nothing happened. Just as she was about to
get up, she felt a hand on clenched fingers. A thumb was rubbing them softly
and she felt the voices subsiding slowly.
“You okay?”
Rudra asked looking concerned.
She nodded
trembling and felt him pulling her in his arms.
“You are
shivering. Let’s go,” she heard him say as he tugged her softly and she
obliged.
He held her
all the way as she struggled to go into her bedroom. Making her sit, he
clutched the glass of water resting on the bedside table and made her drink it.
“What
happened?” he asked once she was a little settled.
“Nothing,
just panic attack.”
“Are these
attacks frequent?”
Ishani
shook her head and shivered again. Instinctively, she circled her arms around
him and instantly felt his arms going around her.
She pressed
her face to his chest and said in a shaky voice, “Aren’t you scared of staying
at Genus alone at night?”
Rudra
flicked her face up and looked into her eyes.
“No Ishani,
I am not scared. I have seen scarier things in my life.”
“But why do
you go there?”
Sighing, he
let her go and walked towards the door of the balcony.
“I go there
when I—”
“When you
need to be alone,” she finished for him.
She saw him
smile and suddenly a shadow of sadness crossed his eyes but it was gone in a
matter of seconds.
“Ishani, I
don’t need to do anything special to be alone. I am alone,” he said turning
away from her.
She got up
and slowly walked to him, and then hugged him from behind.
“You are
not alone, Rudra. You have me,” she said pressing her face into his back.
Unclasping
her hand, he dragged her in front of him and pulled her close. The moment he
buried his face in her neck, she circled her arms around him and sighed.
“Promise me
you will never leave me,” he whispered in her ear.
She shook
her but he palmed her face and then said in a soft commanding voice, “Say it,
Ishani.”
“I won’t,
Rudra. I would never leave you.”
She saw him
sigh and close his eyes in contentment as she buried her face in his chest.
“You know
what I love the best?” he asked ruffling the back of her head.
Ishani
questioningly gestured as she nuzzled her nose more into him and instantly felt
him groan.
“You
pressed to me like this. Your face buried in my chest urging me to hide you
from the entire world.”
Hearing
him, she pressed more and inhaled hard.
“What
perfume do you use?” she asked looking up at him.
His eyes
darkened with something more potent than lust at her question. He lowered his
mouth to her ear and nuzzled playfully.
“Why? Do
you like it?”
She nodded
as a heightened moan escaped her lips.
“It’s
called Rudra,” he whispered satisfactorily in her ear.
The moment
she heard him, she pressed her nose to his shoulder and inhaled as hard as she
could. His raw masculine scent engulfed her senses and gradually spread to
every part of her body. But as it slithered on through her veins, a terrible
fear slowly started to surface into her.
What if he
again leaves her?
She
squirmed and felt his arms tightening his grip on her.
“Rudra,
please let me go,” she said as tried to move away vigorously fidgeting.
“Why?”
She looked
up at him and felt her body going rigid with the fact that he had the power to
hurt her more than she could fathom.
No, nobody
will have the right to do that again to her.
“Please let
me go,” she reiterated, her voice pitching high with anger and fear.
“Not until
you tell me what’s going on in that pretty little head of yours.”
The moment
his arms relaxed a little, she moved a step away trying to get as much physical
distance between them as possible.
“Coz you’re
going to leave me again,” she said, her heart breaking into pieces with the
realisation.
