Scarred Love - Chapter 40

Even though Viman told her nothing had happened still Ishani’s mind was already whirling with worry. Unable to take it, she dialled his number.

“Hey, please tell me what has happened?” she asked the moment the man answered.

“Nothing, Ishani, nothing, don’t worry. I just wanted to know if he has checked on you or not. That day when you left he was pretty upset so, I thought he might have called to patch up, that’s all,” she heard Viman reply.

Relieved, she slumped back on her chair.

“No, he hasn’t and it would be better if he doesn’t.”

“Okay, I’ll be off now. Bye.”

She kept looking at the phone and wondered, what was that all about? Why was Viman checking on her? Or was he checking on Rudra?

Okay, Ishani, you have got to stop thinking about that man. You are giving too much importance to him.

Shaking her head, she closed her eyes and instantly saw him standing smiling at her. A pang of unexplained emotion flashed through her and she bit her lip to control it.

There was no point denying it.

She missed him, missed him terribly.

Suddenly her heart filled with a strange yearning to see him, touch him and most of all feel his heart beating against hers.

But she knew she couldn’t as she had already bid farewell and she would never go back on her words.

Ishani Raijdas and Rudraveer Sangawat were never meant to happen.

He can never be free from that woman and Ishani was not the sharing kind. She wanted a man who would be exclusively hers. The possessive and jealous streak in her was too bad to handle at times and it had already been itched twice before. So, it’s better to steer clear.

But she was still a little upset; she didn’t know why.

She had wanted him; there was no two ways about it. That day when they had almost kissed, she hadn’t wanted to break away from him. She had wanted to feel that passion in her bones; wanted to see the gorgeous man whimper with pleasure.

Her body went up in flames the moment she remembered his body stiffening when she had touched him. As the memory of that day played back, she recalled the way he had closed his eyes and given into her fingers; and passion, unbridled and inherent spread through her every vein and sinew.

She wanted him.

She wanted him in her arms right now.

Ishani tried her best to control her mind and heart but somehow they just went haywire. Her hands clenched with possessiveness as she saw that woman caressing his face in her mind’s eye. She wanted to jerk her hand off and kiss him wildly till he moaned her name out of control.

Clutching the accounts sheets, she shoved them inside her bag and strode out.

“Jithu!”

Just as the man came towards her, she said, “I am leaving for the day. Call me if you need anything. And, don’t forget to give Bansi his medicines. If he asks for me then tell him I’ll play with him tomorrow.”

She unlocked her door and stepped inside. All the way back home, she had been thinking about him. Her nights have been filled with nightmares of the shooting but till now her days had been a little peaceful. However now she was dreaming about him in the day too and Viman’s call today had intensified her longing.

She pressed her forehead to the door and closed her eyes. The emptiness in her was increasing. Flinging her bag on the sofa, she walked towards the bedroom. As she opened the door, she remembered him pushing her towards it for their almost kiss. His eyes had been smouldering with desire and lust that day and right now she wanted those eyes to possess her.

She stepped inside her bedroom and suddenly felt really cold.

She wanted his warmth back.

Most of all she wanted him back.

Ishani slowly collapsed on the bed and hugged herself. As her hand touched the wound on her left arm, she remembered the way he had shifted her weight on the other side to save her from getting hurt. The way his lips had touched the side of neck when he had hugged her after the shooting, had calmed every fear and anguish inside.

All coherent thought vanished from her mind as her body started to crave his touch and presence. A single tear slipped from her eyes and landed on her arm.

“Even if you don’t believe anything else, then just believe this that I love you and I always will.”

She whimpered as her mind played back the words.

“I can live without your love but I can’t survive without seeing you.”

She cried out in agony as his words reverberated in her ears.

Oh Rudra!

“ISHI!”

Suddenly Ishani jolted back to reality as Veera's voice surrounded her.

What was she thinking? Rudra, no never.

She cannot love him, no ways. She cannot let Veera die inside her.

NO, NO, NO.

Two Days Ago

Viman checked the emails one by one and was starting to answer them when Kabir entered his office.

“Bhai, I need your signature on this.”

Viman took the papers from him and flicked through, and then signed them.

“You could have got these done from Rudra.”

“Bhaisa is not in his office,” Kabir replied plopping down on the chair in front of him.
“Has the police matter been solved?” he asked.

“Yeah, believe so. Manna should have an update. By the way Mayank has tightened the security for all of us.”

“Including Bhaisa?”

Viman smiled knowing too well what Kabir meant. Rudra would never agree for extra security let alone any security, period. Mayank must have pulled some major strings to get his agreement.

His eyes narrowed the moment he remembered Ishani’s part in saving Rudra. If she hadn’t been there then…………

Oh man! He didn’t want to think about the rest.

But what happened after that? Clearly, he didn’t have any clue.

He was still in his thoughts when his office door opened abruptly and Manna stumbled in.

Looking at his heavy breathing and panicked face, he knew something was wrong.

“What is it?”

Manna cleared his throat and croaked, “It’s Hukum, he’s……he’s,”

“He is what, Manna?” Kabir asked going near him.

“He is missing.”
