Ever Mine, Ever Thine - Chapter 3
After six months of
serious effort, Roshni's book was complete. Titled “The serious
thought into life”, it was now in printing.
Sitting on the porch of
Rohini's apartment, she looked up at the sky and closed her eyes. In
between her busy schedule of proof reading, and going back and forth
with publishers, sleep had actually eluded her. Now, under the open
sky, her thoughts flew out of her mind as sleep cradled her in its
open arms.
He was struggling to
open the ropes that tied his hands. Rubbing them vigorously against
the edge of the wall, he tried again and again. His eyes glowed with
the thought of freedom. He was almost there. Anticipation drew a line
of laughter and smile across his forehead.
“Urghhhhh!” he
cried in agony.
Roshni woke up with a
start. She was sweating heavily. Her heart was thumbing heavily
against her chest. She closed her eyes and saw everything in clear
daylight. A man tied in ropes, trying to free himself, and then the
slice of a knife. Everything was finished.
Roshni started crying.
She could feel his pain in her. She tried to get up from the bean bag
but fell down as her legs did not support her.
She stretched our her
arms to pull him towards her but could not reach him. Crawling
frantically, she reached the edge and pulled herself upright.
Stretching her hand
across the horizon, she raised her body on the wall to reach him.
Their fingers touched.
Roshni opened her eyes
and looked at him. Nothing seemed real any more. Dreams and reality
became one in a matter of seconds.
He pulled and she came.
As their chests collided, their lips met like two thundering clouds.
Amidst the storm of
feelings and fear, Roshni fell over the edge, cushioned in the abyss
of his arms.
